Villages under the jurisdiction of Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province

Beiqian Village is located in the southeast of Daixi Town, Pingnan County, with a village area of 28 square kilometers.

Basic village situation

There are a total of 609 households and 2290 people in the village, with 99% of the farmers engaged in brewing old wine. The traditional layout of the village remains intact, and most of the traditional buildings are ancient dwellings. At the same time, there are a variety of types, including ancestral halls, temples, gatehouses, artillery towers, rest pavilions, water mills, and covered bridges. In 2014, Beiqian Village was included in the third batch of Chinese traditional villages, and in 2017, it was awarded the title of Chinese traditional architectural cultural tourism destination. Since 2016, Beiqian Village has successfully held three sessions of the Huangjiu Culture Festival. During the event, programs such as Fujian News Channel and Haibo TV conducted live broadcasts in Beiqian Village, and CCTV also broadcasted the Huangjiu brewing and blessing ceremony of the Huangjiu Culture Festival. In 2019, Beiqian Huangjiu Cultural Tourism Scenic Area was rated as a national 3A level scenic spot. With the opening of Daixi to Hubei Second Class Road and Houzhong Line in July 2019, the self driving distance from Beiqian to Ningde Jiaocheng District is 1 hour, the self driving distance to Fuzhou Jingxi Expressway Exit is 2 hours, the self driving distance to Pingnan Gantang Expressway Exit is half an hour, the self driving distance to Fuzhou Changle Airport is 2.5 hours, and the self driving distance to Gutian Dong Station is 1 hour.

Education

There is a central primary school in the village, and the local elites have raised funds to establish the Beiqian Scholarship and Education Assistance Foundation to support the development of education in the village.

In traditional architecture, the majority are ancient dwellings, with a wide variety of types including ancestral halls, temples, gatehouses, artillery towers, pavilions, water mills, and covered bridges.

In 2018, the brewing output of Beiqian Village has reached nearly a thousand tons, with a total of 609 households and 2290 people. Most of the farmers in the village are engaged in the brewing of old wine, and there are several large-scale liquor enterprises or professional cooperatives. The rest are mainly handmade family workshops. Brands entering the market include Longquan Ancient Brewing, Yikouxiang, Dongchenhong, etc.

Honors received

In November 2020, it was named the 6th National Civilized Village and Town.

On December 26, 2019, it was selected as one of the provincial "One Village, One Product" demonstration villages for the year 2019 (Huangjiu).

In November 2022, it was awarded the title of China's Beautiful Leisure Village for 2022.
