Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi scenic spots are located in Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province. The entire scenic area is crescent shaped with a total area of 66 square kilometers.

Baishuiyang is known as a "unique landscape" and "the ultimate wonder of the world, the mystery of the universe". It is currently the only "shallow water square" in the world. Its flat riverbed is about 2 kilometers long, with a maximum width of 182 meters, and a total area of 80000 square meters. It is just one stone away, with even water distribution and no gravel. When people walk on it, the water is ankle deep, and the waves under the sunlight are shimmering and incandescent,so named it as Baishuiyang.
Yuanyang Creek is known as the "Holy Land of Lovers", "Hometown of Yuanyang", "Macaque Paradise", and "Human Wonderland". It is located downstream of Baishuiyang and is the tourist area with the most waterfalls. The magnificent waterfalls of Yuanyang Creek, which are over 100 meters long, are stunning. The forest in the area is dense, the canyon is deep, and the narrowest point is only one meter. In 1994, Yuanyangxi Scenic Area was listed as the third batch of national key scenic spots by the state; In July 2004, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi scenic spots were listed as one of the top ten tourism brands in the province by the provincial government; In August 2005, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi were approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources as national geological parks; In December 2006, Baishuiyang was listed as one of the top ten CCTV perfect holiday tourist routes and the leading brand of water friendly tourism in northeastern Fujian; In 2007, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi were awarded the title of "Best Tourist Destination in Fujian Province"; In January 2009, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi scenic spots were approved by the National Tourism Administration as national "4A" level tourist attractions, and also became pilot units for standardization work in the national tourism service industry; On October 3, 2010, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi were officially approved by UNESCO as Ningde Global Geoparks; In November 2011, the standardization of tourism services in Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi scenic areas passed the pilot acceptance of the National Standardization Management Committee; In August 2012, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi scenic spots were awarded the national "5A" level tourist attractions; In 2018, Baishuiyang and Yuanyangxi were approved as "National Sports Tourism Demonstration Bases"
